Ebook About #1 on the New York Times#1 on Wall Street Journal#1 Amazon Bestseller The first time I met Chase Parker, I didn't exactly make a good impression.I was hiding in the bathroom hallway of a restaurant, leaving a message for my best friend to save me from my awful date.He overheard and told me I was a bitch, then proceeded to offer me some dating advice. So I told him to mind his own damn business―his own tall, gorgeous, full-of-himself damn business―and went back to my miserable date. When he walked by my table, he smirked, and I watched his arrogant, sexy ass walk back to his date.I couldn't help but sneak hidden glances at the condescending jerk on the other side of the room. Of course, he caught me on more than one occasion, and winked. When the gorgeous stranger and his equally hot date suddenly appeared at our table, I thought he was going to rat me out.But instead, he pretended we knew each other and joined us―telling elaborate, embarrassing stories about our fake childhood. My date suddenly went from boring to bizarrely exciting. When it was over and we parted ways, I thought about him more than I would ever admit, even though I knew I'd never see him again.I mean, what were the chances I'd run into him again in a city with eight million people? Then again...What were the chances a month later he'd wind up being my new sexy boss?Book Bossman Review :
Overall Opinion: I know I'm a minority again, but I just didn't love this one. I thought it was ok. I was disappointed in both characters in different times of the story, and I just wanted...more. I felt left wanting when the conflict was resolved and then I was thrown into their jump ahead epilogue. While the epilogue was cute and had me smiling, I really wanted to see them as actual couple for a little while! I'm not sure what exactly I missed that was so outstanding to make it such a highly rated book for many readers, so it might just be me ;)**See goodreads.com/NMmomof4 for my full review with spoilers**Brief Summary of the Storyline: This is Reese and Chase's story. They bump into each other at a restaurant when Reese is begging her friend to help her out of a bad date, and Chase calls her out on her rude behavior. He ends up joining her date with a date of his own. They connect instantly through some elaborate made-up stories, but leave with their prospective dates. Six months later they bump into each other again, and Reese ends up working for Chase's company. They dance around each other, but eventually give in to their strong connection. There is some past baggage for both of them that they have to get through, some hot sexy times, and some funny moments...but they get a HFN ending.POV: This alternated between Reese and Chase's POV. Chase's pov was mostly flashbacks into his past.Overall Pace of Story: Good until the end. I never skimmed, and I thought it flowed well. It was just another book that had their conflict resolved literally right before the epilogue. I want some time in-between with them as an actual couple!Instalove: Not really. I felt like they were connected instantly, but I wouldn't call it instalove.H rating: 3.5 stars. Chase. I really liked Chase! I just really didn't like how he went about pushing the h away :(h rating: 3 stars. Reese. I lost a lot of respect for her with how she behaved with a 3rd party at the beginning 30ish%. I did appreciate how she ended up pursuing the H in the end.Sadness level: Low. No tissues needed.Heat level: Moderate. They take a while to be intimate, but once they do it is pretty hot.Descriptive sex: Yes.Safe sex: Yes. Condoms are used, and after they have a std status and birth control talk they go without. I don't remember any mention of previous practices.OW/OM drama: YesSex scene with OW or OM: NoCheating: NoSeparation: YesClosure: This had ok closure. I wanted more. I would call it a HFN ending, but some might think of it as a HEA.How I got it: I paid the $3.99 on Amazon. 5 CROWNSMy love affair with Vi Keeland began late one night as I stumbled upon Throb, and it has only been strengthened with each novel I have read by her. I can always count on good characters, an interesting plot, and excellent writing, and Bossman did not disappoint.I thoroughly enjoyed the main characters of this story, Chase and Reese. Our heroine is my favorite kind of leading lady. She knows what she is worth and isn’t afraid to ask for it. She has ethics and morals and spends a good deal of the story resisting the hero to follow these rules she has set up for them. I also love that although she is afraid due to incidents from her past, she doesn’t allow these past events to dictate her life in the present. She faces fear head on in relationships and life. The use of her relationship with her brother is an excellent literary tool used by Vi Keeland to develop Reese’s characterization. We get character motivation, background information, characteristics, and skills used to have some dirty conversations in a room full of people. Reese is simply charming. Chase is my favorite kind of hero. He is the perfect mix of cocky arrogance and sweetness, resulting in major charisma. I love the way he interacts with his employees, showcasing that while he is cocky about his personal life or looks, he respects others. He deeply cares for the people he loves as well, which is shown with his reaction to particular events in the story. Once you become a part of this man’s inner circle, he is protective and caring, all the best attributes in a hero. Finally, I love his dialogue. The confidence in his “relationship” with Reese is fantastic. His ability to weave tales is entertaining and will have the reader laughing. Plus, he is hot, physically and linguistically. Really, what is better? The plot of Bossman I found to be incredibly engaging. Yes, this is an office romance, so it does follow the typical trope. The author, however, uses the past of the characters to create the conflict in the story, which allows the reader to get an office-romance with a unique twist. It completely fits with the characters, considering their past and how it has shaped who they are as people. The resolution of the story just solidified how much I love these two as a couple.Vi Keeland has never disappointed, and Bossman has only helped to solidify my love of her writing and that this author is an automatic one-click author for me. If her name is on it, I will be buying it.
